Tadalafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, helping to achieve and maintain an erection.
Tadalafil does not cause an erection without sexual stimulation. The effect can last considerably longer than many other medicines in the same class, although individual response varies.
Tadalafil should be used only as directed by a healthcare professional. It must not be taken with nitrate medicines because the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
